Placebo in Madrid
"I see the public a sign that says 'Madrid'. Thanks, but I know what city I am. " Based on eyeliner, Brian Molko has built an image of dark type that nothing further from reality: in exchange for a little more carefree pose, its aura of mystery disappears when dealing with the public. Or at least we had that feeling yesterday, actually, Madrid. After passing through Paris, Rome, Zurich and Hamburg, Placebo landed in the capital as a coda to a mini-tour that, through the initiative of Mercedes Benz (ai, marks, they will end up saving the music), has led to the stage as a band sound of the new car of the German company.
"Hi, hello brother, hello assholes: we Pla-ce-bo". First in perfect Spanish, ce real, later throwing them against the obvious signs that brought the fans, then doing the same against the "Cyclops" who see the show through the screens of their phones for a stripped Molko while its glam aura to actually get into the public pocket. "You can go online to criticize morning. It's called freedom of expression. " And so wide.
But hey, without acrimony. The hearing of the different plants of the Joy Eslava enjoyed, without compromises, like the most. And the concerts of this type is what you have: mixed audience, draw half entering and half by invitation, punctual waiting two hours before the show to enjoy the open bar before. The mythical and beautiful room of Madrid, to almost full capacity, prepared from mid-afternoon over beer and catering of Do piglet? to meet the group. And after twenty electrical and dubsteperos minute video presentation of the product (the car of Mercedes), Placebo came on stage to review their great songs.
They had many years without coming to the capital. "God! ¿Placebo? I saw it coming but when I tried to draw or "lamented more than a fan when the band would be recalled that last night around here. A pity, because they fulfilled. Although an event of such features always lack the magic of that in which the capacity has gone and only paid for itself and only to see his group, hour and a half long concert showed that it need not be so cold: between 17 tracks of the setlist, fell expected Ashtray Heart ("mai senisero, senisero mai"), Special Needs, Every You Every Me, Battle for the Sun or chanted The Bitter End, which exalt the Joy finished. At the time, other equally unwanted hits as Song to Say Goodbye, and for the encore (encores and everything!) Post Blue, Infra Red and Taste in Men.
In closing, greeting the public theater Stefan Olsdal (bass guitar), Molko (vocals, guitar) and drummer Steve Forrest young surrounded by the rest of the team (violinist and keyboardist), which topped the sound of a night of luxury. The guests left still excited: the post concert deserved it. The open bar was on pace to issues Thursday night. He had been an evening round.

Listen to "Letur Lefr" the new EP by John Frusciante
Three years ago took the disappointment of the fans of Red Hot Chili Peppers. John Frusciante, guitarist that so many glorious afternoons had given them, leaving the formation, and this time would be for good. Many were the ones who suffer their loss but finally today there are reasons to smile due to leakage in the network (by law) of "Letur Lefr" the new EP from New York guitarist.
As we unveiled a few weeks ago, "Letur Lefr" is a compilation of 15 minutes duration which bring together various issues that "Frusciante" recorded in 2010. Listening again found that Frusciante has opted to play with the melodies, creating an experience with experimental touches probably please the fans of disparate melodies.
As we analyze it properly deserves as we would love to read your comments. Is it "Letur Lefr" what you were hoping for Frusciante?

The (animated) tribute Red Hot Chili Peppers Brendan Mullen
A few days ago he got in the network's new music video 'Death Brendan's Song' by Red Hot Chili Peppers. The days have passed, and every god has spoken about it, but I needed to write something about it. Both because it is the best clip of the theme of 'I'm With You' (in fact almost the only one who even today often hear) and by the emotional nature of a production that pays tribute directly to Brendan Mullen, who in his day was a founder of the legendary club The Masque in Hollywood and was a great friend of the band. Unfortunately Brendan died from a shot three years ago.
The video, which was directed by Marc Klasfeld (Foo Fighters - Times Like These, Fun - We Are Young) shows the band playing Anthony Kiedis through the streets of New Orleans, probably the best place to make an act of these characteristics. The reason for this? Over the years New Orleans has adapted the military band music at funerals, thereby encouraging a celebration that always seems sad and downcast. The musical march through the city of Louisiana has been without doubt the best and most elegant option, the Red Hot could have chosen for this video. And all in the end it works amazing, with many extras, lots of fire and some other memorable final portrait dedicated to the family of Brendan.

Joshua Radin in Barcelona
I could lie and tell the following lines how great was the first listen of "Simple Times", how much it meant to me. However, I prefer to be honest: I remember the first time I heard a song by Joshua Radin. Surely it was in a scene from any series or movie, because his music has appeared in over 75 productions, but also put his hand on fire. The one fact I am sure is that I loved from the start. I remember (of course) that a song was enough to convert "We Were Here" and "Simple Times" on two albums on my iPod fixed. I also remember the momentum that began touring the Boston record stores looking for them (in that sense, Newbury Comics never fails). I also remember the joy I felt upon hearing the news of his visit to Spain. The Saturday evening of this visit was consummated.
A half-filled City Hall waiting for eight o'clock in the afternoon, the output of a singer from Ohio who was about to step on stage for the first time Spanish. He left a few minutes later, shy, with his trademark hat, and refugee and after his guitar. He admitted his nerves and excitement for the challenge presented to him and apologized for not knowing our language. Sympathetically revealed his surprise at the fact that someone had come to him, considering that in 45 minutes started the quarter-finals of Euro, which faced Spain and France. He then made his debut with a "No Envy, No Fear 'that sounded slow and timid and failed to awaken the minds of the public, even when the artist was encouraged to sing at the edge of the stage, no microphone. For much of the concert, the audience seemed more attentive to the words of Radin between songs when they played with him singing some songs.
Thanks to the artist's attitude (with the invaluable help of whiskey with him), we know many details of all their albums. We now know that "We Were Here", her first album, was inspired by the breakup with his first girlfriend and his then titled "Simple Times", was based on the break with the second. After months like a lost soul for a broken heart, a 'Brand New Day' filled him with hope and encouragement to keep going. We also discovered a couple of friends Radin, heard one of his singles in your intimate moments and asked him to compose a special cuandon one of those moments, trying to bring new life to the world (do not untangle what those issues if someone prefers not to know).
Note that, together with 'Brand New Day', 'I'd Rather Be With You' was the most chanted in the evening. They were also very well received parts of their upcoming album, especially the song that gives name, "Underwater" (can be downloaded free here), and "Where You Belong '. This new work (which will be released on July 31) seemed to please the audience, because, although it has a touch more Hawaiian, the issues we presented are more similar to "Simple Times" at "The Rock and The Tide "(which did not play any songs). The name of his new album, of course, surje of recent experience related to overcoming a problem in the eardrums of Radin that had prevented him from diving under sea water until a few months (experience related in the interview I conducted last week).
For those who enjoy the show you could not and ye hear more of "Underwater", here's a preview:
